Gilmour and Dean (Eurostampa UK)

As part of their ongoing expansion and continued investment in young people, Gilmour and Dean Limited (Eurostampa UK) decided to recruit an apprentice ink technician. As there was no recognised Modern Apprenticeship Framework for this role, Gary McCreath, Production Manager approached Attain Training to create a bespoke course in this specialist area. The apprentice, Jordan Murphy undertook a course that included the National Occupational Standard, Prepare inks and Coatings for Printing that was certificated by Scottish Qualifications Authority before progressing to complete training in colour theory, densitometry and spectrophotometry. Jordan successfully completed the course and is now viewed as a valued member of staff.

Alan Rees, Operations Director at Gilmour and Dean commented:

“We are delighted for Jordan and see him progressing to greater heights within the company. It is so important for us to develop young people so they can realise their full potential. Our close relationship with Attain Training allows us to create new training programmes which complement the rapid changes within the world of high quality printing and packaging.”

Graeme Wilson of Attain Training added that as a company they were delighted to be involved in the structuring and delivery of such a course and that Jordan had not only been an excellent student but a good example of a young person embracing new skills and applying them well with his job role.
